Coming soon: Rural success stories
Hi Neighbor,
My name is Madeline, and I’m the Communications Director here at Resource Rural. Together with my colleague Ralph Jean, we manage the Resource Rural story wire. Our goal is to share uplifting stories of people in rural communities coming together to address their unique challenges and highlight how federal funding has supported them along the way.
Thank you for becoming a part of our storytelling email program. I’m here to share what you can expect to hear and see from us this year.
Right now, there are billions of dollars in federal funding ready to be invested in small communities like mine (and yours)! We know it takes local people working with local community partners to make sure that money goes where it’s needed most.
That’s where this storytelling program comes in. We are working with partners like you to find, document, and share how rural and Indigenous people are putting federal funds to work in their community to create jobs, expand businesses, renovate community facilities, lower energy costs, and build new infrastructure, all while strengthening the local economy and civic engagement.

This email program is about sharing rural success stories. Here, you’ll hear from us about 2 times a month with stories about local people from local places. Folks like Jackie Jones who helped revitalize the infrastructure of Reidsville, GA, saving homes and businesses from flooding. Or Jacob Hannah from Mingo County, WV, who's proud to carry on the energy producing legacy of the three generations of coal miners in his family by enabling solar jobs for a new generation of energy workers. There are hundreds of stories to share from rural America, and we’ll be creating a digital drum beat that we can collectively carry forward.
If you care about rural landscapes and the people who call them home, there is space for you at Resource Rural – thank you for helping us elevate and amplify these stories.
Let’s get started!
Madeline McGill
